Financial Reality Check

This is one of the most useful projects I have ever been assigned and that I have learned a
great deal from it that I intend to put to use throughout my life.

Help students prepare themselves financially for education after high school. Students will research the cost of a post-secondary program and project their resources and expenses in the first year of the program. They will prepare two budgets (i) living at home and (ii) away from home, analyze their findings and identify strategies to cover expenses or use surplus funds. This competition is open to students in grades 11 and 12. This award is offered in partnership with the Ontario School Counsellors’ Association.
